i'll make you a man is a parody of the extreme genderization of commercial products and their packaging design. marketing companies have been exploiting gender stereotypes for years, creating unnecessarily gendered products to maximize profits. you, the consumer, might be picking up a regular bar soap at a store and a "men's" bar soap right across the isle and wonder if they are the same product, or, for once or twice, you may find yourself in a "boys' section" looking for that toy racer car wrapped in a blue box because duh, "blue for boys, pink for girls". ever since i saw the photo of japanese men's pocky circulating on the internet, the idea of critiquing this frequently forgiven marketing trend has been stuck in my head. the project is my take on this very issue.
